You've already tried the alternatives
…but you still have the same challenges

I faced the same problems that you are facing now.
Hi, I'm Manav.
I've spent the last 8 years hiking over 14,000 km of offbeat trails, almost all of it independent. Never lost, never injured, never …
But I didn't begin this way.
I wanted to hike independently… but I had to figure out everything by costly trial-and-error. That cost me years and a lot of money.
I wanted to find people to hike with… but finding people who share the same mindset was very hard. That forced me to do hikes alone, or not doing at all.
I wanted to go further into the mountains… but reliable information wasn't available. That meant I had to take more risks than necessary.
I kept wishing there was one place for people like me. Somewhere I could learn practical skills, find trustworthy co-hikers, and get reliable information, maps and tools to actually make my adventures happen.
It didn't exist — so I built it.
The HikeX Community brings together everything that has worked for me and hundreds of others who I've helped over the years — and now I want to share that with you.

Inspiring Member Stories
Every story below comes from a HikeX member. Different goals, different experience levels, but the same passion for exploring independently.

Ambika summited her first 6100m peak, Kiagar Ri, after crossing six high passes above 5000 m. Safely summited despite severe winds, hail and challenging terrain.

Priyanshu self-planned a 410 km traverse linking the Manaslu, Annapurna and Dhaulagiri Circuits into one 25-day journey, crossing four high passes through snow and challenging conditions.

Swarup summited his first 6,000 m peak after joining the community. The community hikes gave him the confidence and knowledge to steadily take on bigger adventures every year.

Deepak explored the frozen lakes of Ladakh, experiencing some of the region's most spectacular high-altitude winter landscapes.

Mubeen crossed Lamkhaga Pass (5257 m) solo over 55 km in four days. Navigated washed-out sections, managed difficult crossings, and safely descended steep terrain.

Srishti completed the Hagshu La traverse, a challenging 6-day high-altitude pass in Ladakh across moraines, glacier patches and tricky terrain.

Prasad completed the Chandrakhani Pass as his first DIY hike at the age of 50, confidently planning and executing the adventure independently.

Saurabh completed UT Kangri II (6,070 m) as a DIY day hike. Watching the documentation video gave him the confidence to plan and execute the climb independently.

Shivani planned and completed a budget-friendly DIY hiking trip across Georgia, independently exploring trails without relying on commercial packages.

Ishan & Ankit covered over 100 km across the Himalayas in nine days, exploring alpine lakes and attempting multiple high-altitude routes including Pin Bhabha and Parang La.

Soumya summited Khanpari Tibba gaining almost 2000m altitude in a day, then did Patalsu Peak and then crossed Hampta Pass — all as dayhikes within a span of 4 days.

Akshay planned and completed multiple self-guided Himalayan hikes, starting with a 21 km long day hike near Manali before completing the Chandrakhani, Rasol and Sar Pass traverses.
More adventures from the community…

- Aseem completed his first independent hike, the 45 km Kullu-Parashar Traverse.
- Vineetha completed the Everest Base Camp Trek independently.
- Kamini also completed the Everest Base Camp Trek independently.
- Mayur summited Mera Peak (6,461 m), mostly self-guided.
- Atharva completed Dayara Bugyal as a day hike.
- Viplove navigated landmine-laden trails in South Korea.
- Sanket hiked to the Margherita Hut, Italy.
- Sudha completed Sandakphu with a 20L backpack.
- Murli and several other members completed the Arthur Seat Trek.
…and many many more (this is just scratching the surface)
Behind every adventure is years of learning. None of these adventures happened on day one. Every one of them took patience and learning.
Many members started exactly where you might be today: curious, unsure, nervous, or sometimes even overconfident.
Independent hiking demands planning, navigation skills, reliable information, and people you can trust. Get those right, and the outdoors opens up in ways you never imagined. Get them wrong, and the consequences can be serious.
That's why the HikeX Community exists.
Inside the community, you'll find people a few steps ahead who are happy to share what they've learned, people at your level to hike and grow alongside, and beginners taking their own first steps.

Please don't apply if:
- ✕You're looking for a trekking company to organize weekend trips for you.
- ✕You want someone else to plan every aspect of your hiking journey.
- ✕You're looking for shortcuts instead of skills, knowledge and safety mindset needed to hike independently.
- ✕You're joining mainly to promote, sell or market your products or services.
- ✕You're happy with the communities and resources you already have.
- ✕You enjoy arguing online. (Please take that elsewhere)
We're deliberately not trying to build the biggest hiking community in India. We're trying to build the most trusted one.
FAQs
Is this only for Pros? ▼
Not at all. Some members are planning their very first hike; others have completed long traverses and expeditions. What matters most is curiosity and a genuine desire to become a more independent hiker.
We're here to support you throughout your hiking journey, whether you're just getting started or chasing ambitious mountain objectives.
Why is this paid? I could just join a free community. ▼
Two reasons: quality and focus.
Free WhatsApp and Facebook groups are great for casual conversations. But because they're usually run as side projects, many gradually lose momentum, become inactive, or fill up with promotions. Building a high-quality community takes sustained time, focus and resources.
Being member-funded does three things:
- It filters out people who aren't serious, keeping the community high-quality and focused.
- It creates commitment. People naturally get more out of something they've chosen to invest in.
- It enables us to work on HikeX full-time, mapping trails, documenting routes, and building resources instead of treating it as a side project.
What's the fee? ▼
HikeX runs on a one-time contribution model that gives you lifetime access to the HikeX Community.
It isn't cheap, but it's less than what many people spend on a single Himalayan hike. The contribution increases over time as the community grows and new benefits are added.
We'll share the current contribution, everything it includes, and answer any questions during our call.
Why do you verify every member? ▼
Because members meet each other in real life, often in places new to them. By verifying the identity of each member, we ensure no one is an unknown faceless stranger.
That creates a safer space for everyone, encourages more women to participate in the outdoors, and makes it much harder for anyone to behave badly online or on the trail.
Do you organise treks? ▼
No. HikeX isn't a trekking company. We map trails, educate hikers, and build resources so people can go out on their own with reliable information, trusted partners and outdoor skills.
Even if you continue hiking with guides or trek operators, you'll make better decisions, understand the mountains better, and get far more out of every trip.
What happens after I apply? ▼
We'll get on a short call to understand your goals, answer your questions, and show you how HikeX works.
If we think it's a great fit, we'll invite you to join. If we don't, we'll tell you honestly.
